Staying Safe in Live Rooms and Private Calls

A few habits do most of the work: keep personal details private, keep your camera view clean, leave fast when something feels wrong, and report from where it happened.

What should you never share in a room chat?

Anything that lets a stranger find you offline. That means your surname, home or work address, phone number, social media handles, and photos that show where you live. Room chat is read by everyone in the room, including people you will never see, so treat it like talking in a busy café.

Your display name matters too. Pick something you are happy for strangers to see and keep your full name out of it. A first name, a nickname or a city is plenty for people to recognise you as a regular.

The same goes for your profile photo and anything you say about your job or your routine. "I work nights at the hospital on Fifth Street" is far more than a stranger needs.

How do you keep your camera view clean?

Before a private call, take ten seconds to look at what your camera sees. Mail with your address, a work badge, a school logo, a window view of your street, family photos on the wall: move them or angle the camera away.

Your face is fine to show; the details around it are what you are protecting.

Remember that you can't control what the other person does with their own screen. Keep anything you wouldn't want shared out of the frame, every time. The guide on how to video chat has a thirty-second self-check you can run before each call.

How do you leave a call or a room?

Instantly, and without explaining. In a live room, close it or swipe to the next one. In a private call, end the call. Nobody is owed a goodbye if they made you uncomfortable, and leaving is always the right first move before you decide anything else.

After you leave, you can block the person from their profile, and report them if they broke the rules.

Where do you report from?

From the place it happened. Every live room has a report icon near the top of the screen; use it while you are still in the room, because the report goes in tied to that room. For a problem in messages or a private call, open the person's profile and use Report there.

A useful report says what happened and roughly when. You don't need to write an essay; a line like "asked me for money in a private call" is enough. The community guidelines list what counts as a violation. If you are unsure whether something counts, report it anyway and let the team decide.

Money requests and "let's move to another app"

These two scripts cause most of the trouble on any live site. Someone builds a friendly connection, then asks for money, gift cards or crypto outside the site, or suggests moving the chat to another app or a phone number "where it's easier". Both take the conversation to a place where reports and blocks no longer reach.

The rule is simple: never send money to anyone you met here, and keep conversations on Plamfy. Gifts inside a room are the only way coins change hands, and they go through the site. If someone pushes either script, leave and report. The page on whether Plamfy is safe lists the other red flags.

Gifts: give what you planned to

Gifts are a nice way to say thanks for a good stream, and nobody is entitled to them. Set a monthly amount and stick to it. If a room ever makes you feel pressured to send more, that is your cue to swipe on.

Your coin balance sits in one wallet you top up yourself, and what coins pay for is explained in plain words.

If something goes wrong

Leave first, then block and report. If someone threatens to share a call or messages, don't pay and don't negotiate; save what they sent, report them, and stop replying. If anyone's safety is at risk, call your local emergency number.

For anything about your account, coins or data, email [email protected], and see the contact page for what to include. Problems with a person are faster through the report button, which ties the report to the right profile or room.

Questions

Safety questions

Is it safe to watch live streams on Plamfy?

Watching is low-exposure: your camera stays off and you can leave any room instantly. Keep personal details out of the room chat.

What should I never tell someone on Plamfy?

Your surname, address, workplace, phone number or social media accounts. A first name and a city are plenty.

Someone asked me for money. What do I do?

Don't send anything. Leave the chat or call, report the person from their profile, and block them.

Someone wants to move to another app. Is that okay?

Treat it as a red flag. Keep the conversation on Plamfy, where report and block still work.

How do I block someone?

Open their profile and choose Block. You can also report them from the same place.

How do I report a problem in a live room?

Tap the report icon near the top of the room while you are still in it, so the report is tied to that room.

Can I leave a private call at any time?

Yes. End the call whenever you like. You don't owe anyone an explanation.

What if someone threatens to share my call?

Don't pay and don't reply. Keep what they sent, report them on Plamfy, and contact local authorities if you feel unsafe.
