Plamfy How it works

How Plamfy Works, From Guest to Regular

Five steps take you from your first live room to your first private call. You can stop at any of them; plenty of people never go past step two.

Step 1: open the Live tab

Open Plamfy in any browser and you are already in, as a guest. Head for the Live tab: it sits in the row of tabs along the top of the video feed, next to For You, Private, Following and Hot. The Who's online page has a Live switch too, with room cards two to a row.

Everything in the tab is a room that is open right now. Nothing needs installing and nothing asks for a card. The full guide to watching live streams in your browser goes deeper on this step.

Step 2: pick a room and swipe

Tap a room and it fills the screen, with your camera off. Give it a minute: is the mood right, is the chat moving, is she talking with the room? If not, swipe up or down and the next room starts. Some rooms are marked Premium and have an entry rule; the panel tells you what it is before you go in.

Step 3: say something in the room chat

When you feel like it, tap the chat button at the bottom and type. A hello and where you are from is the classic opener. Your message shows on screen for her and for everyone else watching, with your display name. Some rooms ask you to follow or send a gift before you can type; a short panel tells you which. Being friendly and a little patient is the whole skill; the viewer house rules cover the rest.

Step 4: send a gift or follow

The gift box sits in the bottom row of the room, next to Start Video Chat, and a quick-send strip above it holds a few gifts you can tap straight away. Most of them cost coins. To follow, tap the plus beside her name at the top left; that part is free but needs an account, so a guest is asked to sign in first, and her profile keeps a message button for later.

How coins, rewards and VIP fit together is explained on the free to start, then coins page.

Step 5: call her privately

Tap Start Video Chat at the bottom of her room, or the video button on her room card or profile. Your browser asks for the camera and microphone, and once she picks up it is just the two of you. If she is already in a call, the button reads In a Call.

The private video chat page has a short checklist for before you tap and the manners that keep a call going.

What else is there besides live rooms?

Two more ways in. The random match screen pairs you with someone new, and you choose the mode at the bottom: Video, Audio or Text. Audio keeps your camera off, and Text is typing only. During a match you can move on to the next person whenever you like.

The Who's online list shows people who are around right now, and you can browse it by popular, online, new, following or language. Open a profile and you will find a message button and a video button. The live rooms stay the heart of Plamfy.

How do messages and live badges work?

Messages live in one list, reached from the message icon, with each conversation under the person's picture. Text messages can be translated automatically, so you can talk with someone in Manila or Medellín without sharing a language. Her profile has a message button whenever you want to start one.

When someone you follow or have chatted with goes live, a live badge on her picture takes you into her room.

What doesn't Plamfy do?

Plamfy is a place to watch and call. Viewers cannot stream here, so there is no go-live button and no way to get paid on the site. Your camera only appears in a private call you start, and the rest is built around watching; about Plamfy explains why it is shaped this way.

Do you need to log in?

No. Plamfy starts you as a guest the first time you open it, and you can watch, chat and call that way. Make an account if you want to keep things in one place. Shorter answers to questions like this one are collected in the Plamfy FAQ.
