Plamfy About

What Plamfy Is, and What It Isn't

A live streaming site for viewers: watch people in your browser, talk in their rooms, and call the one you like. Here is what Plamfy is used for, who you meet, and what we left out.

What is Plamfy used for?

Plamfy is a live streaming site where you watch people in your browser, chat with them in their rooms, and start a private video chat with the one you like. It runs in any current browser, and you start as a guest without filling in a form.

People use it to unwind in the evening, to keep company with someone whose room they enjoy, and to talk face to face with her when they want more than the room.

It is used for watching first. You open the Live tab, tap a room, and see someone streaming from her own space while the room chat scrolls up beside her. You can stay quiet, say hello, send a gift or follow. And when the moment is right, the Start Video Chat button at the bottom of the room turns watching into a private conversation.

That order matters to how the whole site is built. Plamfy assumes you would rather get to know someone a little, in public and at your own pace, before you ever call. Watching first gives you something to talk about, and it gives her a chance to recognise your name before your face. Everything else on the site, from the live badge to automatic translation in messages, exists to make that path easy.

Who's on the other side?

Real people, streaming live from their own rooms. They come from many countries, and most streams have a personal, at-home feel: someone chatting while doing her make-up, playing music she likes, or just talking with the regulars who show up most nights.

Each person decides when she is on and what her room is like. Some keep a regular schedule that their followers know by heart; others turn up whenever the evening is free, which is exactly what the live badge is for.

They are a separate group from viewers. If you open Plamfy, you are in the audience, and the people streaming are the ones you watch and call. That split keeps the site simple: nobody watching ever has to wonder whether their own camera is on a stream.

On the viewer side, people from more than 50 countries use Plamfy. About a fifth of them watch from the US, with the UK, Germany, Canada and France next among the larger groups.

Because the people streaming and the people watching often live in different countries, text messages can be translated automatically, so a different language isn't a wall.

What viewers can do

Think of it as a ladder you can climb as slowly as you like. You drop into a room and watch. You say something in the room chat. You send a gift when a stream makes your evening. You follow her with an account, so a badge lights up on her picture the next time she is live. And when you are ready, you call her privately.

Alongside the live rooms there is a random match screen with Video, Audio and Text modes, an online list you can browse by popular, new, following or language, profiles with a message button and a video button, and a wallet for coins and VIP.

A typical evening on Plamfy

It is nine o'clock in Ohio. You open Plamfy on your phone, check your messages, and see a live badge on the picture of someone you followed last week. You tap it and you are in her room: she is playing music and answering the chat, and a viewer from Manchester is telling her about the rain.

You say hi. She reads your name and asks how your day was. You stay for half an hour, send a small gift when she plays a song you asked for, and swipe through two other rooms before bed. Another night, when her room is quiet, you tap Start Video Chat and talk for a while, just the two of you. That is the whole idea of the site, and most evenings on Plamfy look like some version of it.

Things we left out on purpose

Some features are missing because they would make the site worse for the people watching. Viewers cannot go live, so there is no streaming studio and no way to get paid on the site. There are no group chat rooms, because a live room's chat already does that job. There are no talent categories, since people's rooms don't fit neatly into boxes.

Plamfy runs in the browser, so there is nothing to install here: it is a website you can pin to your home screen; the Plamfy app page explains how. Keeping everything in the browser means one version for everyone and nothing extra on your phone.

How the money works

Plamfy is free to start. You can come in as a guest without a card, new users get some free matches, and rewards pop up now and then while you use the site. After that, coins cover gifts and the other paid parts, and VIP is an optional paid tier.

Coins live in one wallet that you top up yourself. Nobody on Plamfy should ever ask you to pay them another way. The breakdown of what is free and what coins pay for goes through every layer without the fine print.

How does Plamfy approach safety?

Mostly by keeping exposure low for viewers. You can watch with your camera off, no form asks for your real name to look around, and every room and profile has a report option. Block sits on every profile too, so anyone you would rather not hear from again is one tap away from gone.

The rules are short and written for real situations: no nudity, no pressure, no asking for money, no moving people to other apps.

We also try to be honest about what a website can and cannot promise. We can give you report and block, and act on reports. We cannot control what another person does on their own screen, so the safety habits page focuses on what you can do yourself, and the community guidelines say what gets someone removed.

Where does Plamfy work?

In any current browser, on an iPhone, an Android phone, a tablet, or a Windows or Mac computer. The site is in English, and text messages can be translated automatically, which helps when the person you like speaks Spanish, Portuguese or Tagalog at home.

Nothing needs installing; the browser is enough.

On a phone, most people pin Plamfy to the home screen so it opens full screen with one tap. On a laptop, the bigger picture and a proper keyboard make the room chat easier, and a built-in camera covers private calls. Both open the same site, so you can watch on the bus and call from your desk without setting anything up twice.

How to reach us

For coins, account questions, privacy requests or anything a button inside the site can't handle, email [email protected]. For a problem with a person, use the report option on their profile or in the room. The contact page explains what to include so the first reply can sort it out, and the private video chat page is the place to start if you have never called anyone here.

Feedback is welcome too. If something on the site confused you, or a feature you expected wasn't there, write in with "Suggestion" in the subject line and tell us what you were trying to do.
